Bio
Lea Farrell is an artist and educator living in Ireland. She has a diploma in fine art and a degree in Animation. Currently, Lea is undertaking a practice-based research-MPhil in fine art. Over the past 20 years, Lea worked in the field of commercial art. Recently she started exhibiting (again) and in a short space of time, her work won numerous awards from around the world. The central tenet of Lea’s body of work is drawing. Lea’s drawings imitate movement in a pulsating way inviting the viewer to partake in the story.
These gestures are captivating and describe reality in a fluent and honest, self-reflective way.
“I use drawing as an investigative tool. The ways I am working allow me to emerge myself in the work and become a participatory element in the discussion. I am particularly interested in the capturing real and unreal in the form of gestural lines. I explore and question time in a nonlinear manner to play with the static and active dissimilitude within my lines.
I believe that drawing is one of the most honest and immediate response to any human endeavor.”
“Lea’s drawing uses rhythm in the sense of layering and repeating forms, creating a two-dimensional image which unfolds in time, full of anticipation and suspense.” Matt Rota 2022
